Beef stew

Ingredients: 2-3 servings

• 1 pound of fresh cubed beef meat

• 6 Mini potatoes

• 4 medium carrots

• Light soy sauce

• Garlic powder

• Unsalted Butter

• Lemon juice

• All-purpose flour

• Olive oil or any cooking oil

Tips one: This recipe will make a serving for two; remember to always let your ingredients chill for 30 min at room temperature prior to cooking, if they have been stored in the fridge. It will help to soften the ingredient texture allowing it to cook better, making them softer and juicer in case of meat.

Tips two: When buying the carrot always look for the carrot with the most intense color the more intense the orange color, the sweeter the carrot; fresh and sweet carrots will add an (it) taste to the stew.

Step 1: Preparing the flour sauce

• In one cup of cold water dissolve 2 teaspoons or 2 small tablespoons of all-purpose flour and set aside.

Step 2: Wash and cut the carrots into round pieces, make sure that the carrots are cut equally otherwise some might end up being more cooked than the other; wash the potatoes if required and set aside.

Step 3: Seasoning the meat

• Add 2 tablespoons of light soy sauce to the meat mix and stir.

• Add 1 teaspoon or small tablespoon of lemon juice and stir.

• Add 1 teaspoon of garlic powder and 1 teaspoon of cooking oil mix and stir.

Then fry the beef meat for 5 min on medium heat by stirring frequently to make sure that the heat is evenly distributed on all sides of the meat.

Tips: Mix all these ingredients with the meat before frying the meat on the heated pan.

Step 4: Add 3 cups of water, add enough to cover up the meat. Then add the flour mixture in step one and stir. Let the beef cook for 10 min on medium heat, no need to cover the pot.

After 10 min have passed add the potatoes and let cook for 20 min on medium heat.

Tips: one thing to know about beef stew is that the longer you cook the beef the tender the meat will be. For more tenderness beef stew can be cooked on lower heat for around 2 hours or more.

Step 5: Add the carrots and 2 small tablespoons of butter, let cook for 5 to 7 min.

​When the carrots are cooked for around 5 to 7 min, it allows their colors to shine brightly, and they taste more delicious.
