When too much water is added, the rice will end up being overcooked and will force the rice to be very sticky and very tender and when not enough water is added the rice will end up being dry and undercooked but the steaming process can fix undercooked rice.

What is the steaming process?

The steaming process is when you let your rice finishing cooking on low heat after the majority of the water dries, by covering up the pot; it is mostly used when the rice still needs a little bit of a cook.

Tips 1: You will know that your rice is ready when all the water in it, dries out and that is when you need to taste the rice to see if it is at the consistency desired.

Tips 2: When rice is too dry you need to add a little bit of water and let it cook for a bit longer until the water dries or cover the rice and let the steam finishing the work on low heat.

Tips 3: When rice has too much water you just need to take some out and let the rice continue its cooking with a lesser amount of water.

Tips 4: Rice takes around 10 to 30 min to cook depending on the rice texture and the amount of rice being cooked.

Tips 5: Rice is cooked on medium heat and after the water dries, if the rice is not yet ready let, it cooked on low heat through steam by covering the pot; around 5 to 10 min rice should be ready.

How to know the right amount of water you need to add in rice for that perfectly cook consistency.

If you are cooking, let say one cup of rice, you need to add around 1 cup ½ of water.

2cups of rice= 3 cups of water.

3 cups of rice=4 cups ½ of water.
